Dear QEHS Parents and Guardians,  

It is hard to believe it is October already.  Thank you to our Knights for a great first month of the school year.  I am proud of how our students have fallen into the routines and expectations in our learning community.   

We are well into term 1 of this semester.  Throughout the learning process, students and families will continue to receive information about assignments, assessments, and teacher feedback. This information helps students understand how they are doing, recognize their progress, and know what they can do next to improve. 

Starting on October 5th, high school overall course grades will be visible in PowerSchool. By this time, teachers have gathered enough evidence of learning to provide an accurate picture of a student’s learning and achievement so far. Earlier in the semester, a small number of assignments can have a large impact on a student’s overall grade and may not yet reflect their learning accurately. 

Waiting to share an overall course grade helps students focus on learning and feedback rather than changes in a number. Our goal is for students to understand their progress, celebrate their growth, and know their next steps. Keeping the focus on learning and growth supports both student achievement and well-being.  If you have any questions about your child's progress, please reach out to your child's teacher.  

Aimee Furey's last day at QEHS was today.  Monday, October 5th will be Stephanie Howe's first day as our new Assistant Principal.  Welcome, Ms. Howe!

Remind| Demographic Information – OVERDUE  

You will have received an email from CBE regarding updating your child’s demographic information in MyCBE These forms used to be completed via paper copies and now are required to be completed annually online. All parents must review, complete or update their child’s forms through MyCBE by clicking on the School Engage tab.  

This is now an overdue task. Please ensure that it is done urgently. Otherwise, our school staff will follow up directly with families. 

Annual Notification Video Surveillance System 

Our school has a video surveillance system to help maintain a safe and secure environment at the school for students, staff and the public, and to help address vandalism and criminal activity on school property. 

The video surveillance system is installed and reviewed in accordance with Administrative Regulation 1066. Personal information is collected under the authority of the Education Act and the Protection of Privacy Act (POPA), specifically section 10(1) and the Access to Information Act (ATIA) . 

This technology can be placed in areas such as the school parking lot, building entrances and exits, stairwells and hallways. This information is recorded and collected to help maintain a safe and secure environment in the school and on school property. The users of this information are the principal or designate and  law enforcement personnel in the case of reported incidents that would require an investigation. Only authorized persons will review video surveillance information. 

Inquiries concerning the video surveillance system, or the collection and use of recorded information may be made by contacting the school office. 

 

Business Office 

  • School fees were assigned Friday, October 2. Central fees will be assigned by mid-October. Please check your PowerSchool account to make payments. 
  • Waivers must be applied for annually and can be submitted through your PowerSchool account. Please visit https://www.cbe.ab.ca/waivers for more information. 
  • Students wishing to park in the student lot must register their vehicle at the Business Office and pick up a parking pass. Registration is free!
