Welcome to Queen Elizabeth High School
Queen Elizabeth High School students are learners, leaders and citizens who possess the character to do what is ethically right, and achieve their highest personal potential. Therefore, we aim to create an environment that allows students to build success as learners, to be contributing citizens to our school and broader community, and to be well prepared to lead in the world.
At QEHS, we encourage the growth and development of these beliefs in our students by preparing them for responsible participation in the school, local and global communities.
School History
The original school was built in 1910 and has undergone a series of additions and renovations. The school originally was named Bowview School but was renamed in honour of the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II in 1953. We are the Queen Elizabeth Knights!
Our Motto
Labor Omnia Vincit - Hard Work Conquers All.
School Mission
To engage and support all students as they become self-directed, passionate life-long learners who think critically and creatively, as caring, productive citizens.
School Vision
QEHS Knights embrace high quality, innovative, personalized learning opportunities in an inclusive learning environment.
School Values
Learning is our central purpose. As Knights, we value a safe, caring and inclusive learning environment that provides rigorous and relevant learning opportunities. The role of the student is to participate in an engaged, respectful, caring and inclusive manner.
School Beliefs
We believe that learning:
- Is a collaborative process involving students, staff, teachers, support staff, parents, and community.
- Is a holistic process concerned with the development of the whole person.
- Thrives in an atmosphere of trust, respect, and safety where student voice is valued.
- Is continuous and lifelong.
Our School's Commitment to Truth and Reconciliation

School Development Plan
Each year, our school prepares a development plan with input from teachers, school staff, students and parents. We review many sources of data, including report cards, provincial achievement test results and school surveys. Based on this information, we create our plan identifying targeted areas for growth. Our school development plan is not meant to represent all of the work that takes place in our school, but rather it focuses on specific areas for improvement.

School Improvement Results Report
Our school also prepares a results plan, which looks at our previous school year. It shows our students’ achievement and progress in meeting the goals and outcomes as set out by the CBE and Alberta Education, outlines some of the highlights of our school development plan and gives an overview of our school. You can look on the CBE website for system-wide results.
