Dear QEHS Parents and Guardians,
I wish to thank PCL Construction for their generous donation that allowed us to purchase two new skill saws for our construction lab. PCL also donated their time and expertise with our high school construction students this week by taking a walking tour of the Sunnyside Flood Barrier project. Students were able to connect with the project team about the design and construction elements as well as learn about potential career pathways in the urban design, project management, and construction industry. Thank you PCL – together we build success!
We are celebrating our junior high badminton team that won their division in all categories, and we have several high school track athletes heading to cities next Saturday. Our GATE grade 9 students also partnered with Telus Spark’s Prototype Project where they designed an accessible, interactive and engaging Science Centre exhibit. The students shared and presented their science concept prototype at Telus Spark’s Celebration of Learning on Tuesday evening, and I was impressed with the scientific discovery as well as the way students were able to communicate them to the participants.
The last few weeks of semester 2 for high school students are fast approaching. The last day of regular classes is June 9. After June 9, high school teachers prioritize opportunities for continued learning and reassessment for students. While attendance is not mandatory, teachers proactively reach out to all students to inform them of opportunities for credit rescue, targeted support or intervention for specific outcomes.
Junior High classes continue as scheduled until June 26th.
Please ensure to review our June Exam Schedule if you have not done so already. Junior High Provincial Achievement Tests (PATs), grade 10 and 11, as well as Diploma exams, are all listed on this schedule.
And now I am off to the junior high spring dance...wish me luck! Have a fantastic long weekend!
With gratitude,
Jennifer Edmondson-Neily
Principal
